Brush and eraser
Paint the surface with an adjustable brush diameter. The eraser restores the original color or the STL base.
Color Studio
Start with an STL or continue a painted 3MF. Paint directly on the model, choose filaments and export a file that retains your colors in the slicer.
Included in Partner Standard, Plus and Pro. Try every tool during your trial; export unlocks with a paid subscription.
Choose a color in the top bar, then tap a part of the robot.
Interactive illustration. In the editor, you paint your own 3D model with a brush, eraser and bucket.
No painting software to install.
Geometry is processed locally without uploading the model to a server.
Import STL or 3MF and export a 3MF with assigned colors.
The tools
From large surfaces to small details: choose a tool and inspect the result on your model.
Paint the surface with an adjustable brush diameter. The eraser restores the original color or the STL base.
Adjust the angle with a right drag, inspect the preview and confirm with a left click. Esc cancels the selection.
Choose Bambu colors or a custom shade. The top bar mirrors your palette for one-click selection, with up to 32 colors.
Smooth the selected color borders, fill small gaps or remove remaining base gray. You decide when to apply refinement.
Undo and redo with buttons or Ctrl+Z. Edit or delete palette colors, with confirmation before removal.
The 3MF retains painted regions. Catalog selections use Bambu filament profiles, beyond the preview color alone.
How it works
Open an STL to paint or a 3MF to continue existing color assignments.
Add shades from the Bambu catalog or color picker. Rename and edit them as needed.
Use the brush or angle fill. Inspect details, correct with the eraser and refine where needed.
Download the painted file and open it in Bambu Studio to check filaments and prepare slicing.
If the original model has overlapping pieces, you can use “Prepare for Splitter” before painting. This step is optional: review geometry notes and undo if needed.
Editor gestures
Left-drag to paint. Alt + drag rotates the model while working.
Right-drag to adjust the angle threshold. Release to hold the preview, then left-click to confirm.
Restore the original shade in the touched area without repainting the whole model.
Ctrl+Z undoes a change. Ctrl+Shift+Z or Ctrl+Y restores it; dedicated buttons are also available.
STLs and files without presets export with Bambu Lab H2C 0.4 mm nozzles and the 0.20mm High Quality preset. Catalog colors use official filament profiles; custom shades retain your chosen values.
Load a different configuration from a 3MF if needed. In the slicer, check the actual printer and installed spools. An STL alone does not retain these color assignments.
STL and 3MF, up to 100 MB. STLs start with a neutral base; 3MF files retain the color assignments the program recognizes.
Paint the surface. The slicer uses those assignments to create filament regions during slicing: internal boundaries are not connectors added by Color Studio.
Color Studio assigns surface colors and saves a painted 3MF. Splitting the geometry into pieces is a separate operation.
Yes. Color Studio is included from Standard, including Plus and Pro, with a valid subscription. You can paint and refine models during the trial; export requires an active paid plan.
